Neurology and Stroke Care at Astra

Our Neurology Department assesses and treats disorders of the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles - including headache and migraine, epilepsy, stroke, Parkinson's disease, neuropathy and memory disorders. Stroke is time-critical: if you recognise the signs below, come to emergency immediately.

Recognising a Stroke - Act FAST

F - Face. Ask the person to smile. Has one side of the face drooped? A - Arms. Ask them to raise both arms. Does one drift downwards? S - Speech. Ask them to repeat a simple sentence. Is speech slurred, jumbled or absent? T - Time. If any of these are present, call +91 96771 11775 and come immediately. Note the time symptoms began.

Do not wait to see whether it passes. Symptoms that resolve within minutes may have been a transient ischaemic attack - a warning stroke - which needs urgent assessment. Do not give food, drink or medication to someone with suspected stroke.

The interventional neuroradiology team is one of the largest in the country, treating cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and increasingly acute stroke, all of whom are accessible via the Astra speciality hospital.
